PHEASANT HUNTING TIPS

If possible, always hunt into the wind.

Always Hunt Quietly.  Keep quiet Before the Hunt

and During the Hunt.  Making alot of Noise by Slamming

Doors, Laughing, Tooting you Dog Whistles when you get

to your Hunting Site, can cause the pheasants to be at the

other end of the field by the time you take your first step.

Always carry your gun pointed up.

When you shoot down a bird, keep your eye as to where it

went down and walk right to that spot.  Do not look around

or load your gun.  Keep your eyes on that spot.  Most pheasants

do NOT come down DEAD and will run a ways from where they hit.

Do not use number 7 or 8 shot in Hunting Pheasants.

Use Number 6 shot for the first two weeks of the season

then change to Number 5 shot.

Do not use Low Base Shells

95% of missed Shots results from Shooting Behind the Bird.

It is not uncommon to Have to Lead Wild birds

10 to 15 feet when shooting.
