On the Point , is located on our CENTURY OLD family farm, 30 miles southwest of Aberdeen, SD. Our farm covers 4,000 acres of land with shelterbelts, wind breaks, crop cover, dams, sloughs and ground cover, thus making it an excellent home for pheasants and ducks.

This is open hunting. The kind you like. We are family-friendly so bring family and friends if they love the outdoors and your dog if you wish.
Our farm provides habitat, food and water all year round for the birds as well as vast nesting areas.

For those who haven't experienced the wild fast birds of South Dakota this adventure is for you! I have hunted at ON THE POINT lodge for 15 years and every year I enjoy the challenge of these beautiful birds. Several times limiting out after walking just one field! While not geographically close to Kansas City, Missouri, I travel the nine hours one way to enjoy the rolling topography, great friends, outstanding guides, wonderful hard working dogs, beautiful cackling pheasants and the friendship with the Harris Swanson family. This is a destination you don't want to miss. I've hunted on three continents and never has the hunting been better. When South Dakota was rocked with nasty weather and bird populations were cut in half, not at ON THE POINT, birds were just as good as always. Want more information? Just wanted to drop you a note and thank you and your wonderful staff for our successful pheasant hunt. All the guides were professional, helpful and did a fabulous job. They help answer all the questions and concerns that we had, all the dogs were well trained. I was so impressed on how easily they retrieved thanks to the many hours that someone had to work them. The food and the lodge, well we could not have asked for anything more, love the sweet rolls in the morning. Hopefully some day we will be back, but please tell everyone. Thank you thank you and thank you for the wonderful and memorized trip, you have a lot to be proud of at On The Point Lodge.

Dear Swansons,
I just wanted to write and thank you for the great pheasant hunting trip. The weather and birds both really cooperated. With the help of my weimaraner "Milo" I was able to get my limit each day, sometimes by noon. The number of birds cackling, running around and flying across the roads is amazing. I'm sorry to say that I don't think anything like that will ever exist again in my home state of Ohio!

Leigh and I arrived home tired but thrilled at our experience with you this past week. It was a fantastic time. We met great people and everyone was so nice and very friendly. We drove straight through and it only took slightly less than 11 hours. The hunting was fantastic, the accomodations were great, the company with the others in the lodge was fun, the hosts and hostess' were great. The fields were HUGE, the weather could have been a little better Thursday and Friday but it didn't stop us. The birds were amazing. Saturday was unbelievable to see 10-20 roosters come out of one strip of corn was really exciting. Looking forward to next year.
